Lakshmi’s Story

Once upon a time, I was a pretty together little Goddess. But I grew up, as Goddesses will, and made some choices. Some good ones — resulting in a perfect princess-Goddess who will be known here as Lakshmette. Some not so good — resulting in a divorce and destitution. These last few consequences were compounded by really bad timing. In the space of about two years, I lost my marriage, my home, and half my family. Oh, and my job.

I didn’t exactly rebound from these circumstances. Instead, I let them serve as an excuse, and I packed on some additional weight, despite the fact that I’d been struggling with my weight my entire adult life. My health suffered, leading to hypertension and chronic pain. And of course, I couldn’t afford medical care, thanks to the ever-deepening financial hole I found myself in.

I started climbing out of the hole somewhat gradually in 2007. I started a freelancing business as a writer, and took on some website work. But while the wolves were no longer baying at the door, they were still circling the neighborhood, sniffing me out, and there was still every other area of my life that was decidedly un-divine.

I got fed up.

And I got myself this blog.
